Lessons for Adults
Focusing on You
Back to Lessons
Did you take piano lessons as a child or adult and now you’d like to get back to it? Or do you play another instrument and think that piano would be good to add on? Juanita will work with you to establish where you are at and help you determine goals of what you want to play and how to get there.
I’ve never played but I want to…
Maybe piano lessons have been a dream for a long time and it’s time to do something about it. Juanita will work with you to begin your dream, establishing good habits of practice, learning technique and music reading, all so that you can explore the music you want to learn.
You’re in charge
As an adult learner, you are in charge of your lessons. with Juanita’s help, you’ll determine your goals, your practicing schedule and performance opportunities (or not). Whether you want to be able to pick up and play the pop classics that you know, continue working through classical pieces or even work towards an exam level, Juanita will coach you through the process.
Best practices
Most adult students find that they make the most progress when they commit to a period of time for lessons and learning. However, the a la carte lesson style that Juanita offers means that we work around your schedule - weekly or biweekly lessons with a flexible change and payment policy.

“I started taking piano lessons late in life. As a string player, I knew something of music theory, but had never had formal piano lessons. I used to bang away on the keyboard to enjoy the harmonies. I decided to take lessons when I became increasingly frustrated with the limitations of my lack of training. Juanita has artfully managed my development in thinking like a keyboard player: to look at the score to see what to play and how to play it: improved fingering, understanding the harmonics, and thinking about the development of the piece. There are unique challenges for adults learning piano, and Juanita has the experience and insight to help work through and around these. I look forward to going to lessons. I know I will find encouragement, help, insight, new challenges and opportunities, and a sympathetic ear.” ~Tom
