Welcome to Allegro Piano Music Studio! The studio is moving to northeast Sherwood Park, Alberta. I’m looking forward to getting to know the community and meeting new piano students.

How my musical journey began

One of the most important things in my life is sharing music with others, whether through teaching piano or collaborating to make music. I started studying the piano at the age of five and vividly remember my first piano teacher and method book! Throughout my school years, I progressed through the Royal Conservatory of Music levels, learned to play for church and others, and discovered how music can shape one’s life. I completed my Teachers’ ARCT and have been learning and growing as a teacher ever since.

I have taught piano since high school to a variety of students. Whether it is watching a beginner student blossom in lessons or working on the finer points of music making with more advanced students, I enjoy all aspects of piano teaching. I have been challenged in recent years to expand my teaching style to include games and I’m enjoying seeing students discover and review musical concepts through play.

I consider myself to be a lifelong learner. I started studying cello as an adult and now play in a community orchestra. I love to read and often apply what I am reading about to my lessons with students. I am continuing to learn about the relationship between listening and playing and hope that all my students will learn to be lifelong learners and musicians.

I am a member of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association (ARMTA). I am also a member of the Alberta Piano Teachers Association(APTA) where I currently serve as the President. I am always looking for ways to learn more about music and piano teaching and hope to pass this inquisitive spirit onto my students.
